The Ingredients

This excellent tasting formulation may be presented in individual sachets (14 grams) or bulk powder in suitable containers with appropriate measuring scoops. This powder mixture is flavored with a proprietary mixed-berry combo for reconstitution in water. Medicinal ingredients for the product were carefully selected on the basis of their ability to cope with the major factors identified in impacting digestive disorders.

Both short chain fructooligosaccharides (scFOS, 2500 mg) and oligofructose-enriched inulin (2500 mg) are included as soluble dietary fibers to provide nourishment for the beneficial bacteria resident throughout the gastrointestinal tract. ScFOS are present in trace quantities in a variety of fruits, vegetables and grains but is now available through a proprietary bio-fermentation process from pure sugar cane. Like scFOS, inulin is present in numerous plants such as wheat, onions, bananas but its main commercial source is chicory root. Oligofructose is obtained from inulin by a special enzyme hydrolysis reaction. See structures below where scFOS and inulin have glucose and fructose end units with chain lengths varying between a minimum of 3 up to 60 whereas oligofructose contains primarily fructose units varying in chain lengths between 2 and 1o.

FOS

A second bioactive ingredient possessing established health benefits is epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG, 300 mg) obtained from the leaves of the green tea plant Camellia sinensis. This ingredient referred to chemically as a polyphenol possesses numerous health related properties such as anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and select antibacterial activities. Non-medicinal ingredients are erythritol, mixed berry flavour, cranberry juice powder, sodium citrate dihydrate, citric acid, sucralose.
