GI Cancer Chemoprevention Potential

Min mice – a genetically relevant animal model mimicking human intestinal carcinogenesis has been used extensively in chemoprevention studies. These animals develop more than 50 tumors throughout the entire intestinal tract until they die of bowel obstruction and intestinal bleeding at 150 to 170 days of age.

This animal model was used to demonstrate the utility of both scFOS and EGCG in significantly reducing both small intestine and colon tumors. A human epidemiological study is also included to demonstrate the utility of green tea drinking in reducing the risk of both chronic gastritis and stomach cancer. Please refer to this sub menu under the “Ingredient Role” menu for more details.
